The story of Rachel and her Chariot
An update, posted April 2009:
Phil Maxwell // Hi.
U.S. motorists participating in the federal government’s Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) program, popularly known as the ‘cash for clunkers’ initiative, must prove that the vehicle they want to trade-in has been insured continuously for at least the previous 12 months, according to the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.).
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) final CARS rules say that the proof of insurance to be submitted to participating car dealers, can take one of three forms:
One or more insurance cards containing the make, model, model year and vehicle identification number (VIN) of the insured trade-in vehicle but only if, taken together, the cards display on their face a continuous one-year period of insurance coverage. Insurance policy documents (e.g., declarations pages) showing the aforementioned information. A signed letter, on insurance company letterhead, identifying the trade-in’s vehicle identification information (i.e., make, model, model year and VIN) and the period of continuous coverage, which must be for at least one year prior to the date of the trade-in.
I've always felt that the most creative street art isn't the kind that's randomly spray painted on some freeway wall, but rather, it's the kind that stops you in your tracks and gives you an experience. In this set, I've put together 20 examples of street art that you can tell was thoughtfully placed in a certain environment - a side of a large building, on a colored door, next to a window - so that the background plays just as an important part of a role as the art itself. From well-known names like Banky and ABOVE to super sneaky teenagers with some paper and some paste, these artists all have one thing in common - the desire to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary.
This time, as part of Platform 21 Repair project we had a Dispatchwork session organized in Amsterdam with a little group of enthusiastic Dispatchers who joined in on this occasion. After a quick introduction of the Project at the ARCAM we hit the streets with some dispatchwork.
We started out in Peperstraat. Our Repairing-spree took us then through the small streets of Central Amsterdam. Have fun clicking through that virtual dispatchwork tour.
Thanks to the numerous photographers for this thorough documentation of the project and for the permission to the pictures for my website. Please read the descriptions concerning the copyright.
This first set of 6 pictures was taken by photographer Johannes Abeling.

SYDNEY -- A man whose relatives say had been sniffing gasoline burst into flames after a police officer used a Taser on him as he ran at officials carrying a container of fuel, police said Tuesday.
The man, identified by his family as 36-year-old Ronald Mitchell, was in critical condition at a Perth hospital in Western Australia state following Monday's incident in Warburton, an Aboriginal community 950 miles northeast of Perth.
Western Australia police said they were responding to a complaint at a house when Mitchell ran outside carrying a cigarette lighter and a large plastic bottle containing what they believe was fuel. When he refused to stop running toward them, one officer used a Taser gun on him, police said in a statement.
The man was immediately engulfed in flames. The officer threw him to the ground and smothered the blaze with his hands, the statement said. Mitchell was charged with assault to prevent arrest and possession of a sniffing substance.
I'm glad to see Bria releasing new mixes again. She disappeared for a while, but has posted a new episode two weeks in a row now.
The Bria Project is a project that concentrates on vibe more so than style of music. Our mixes span from a number of genres such as lounge, jazz, nujazz, soul, etc. Whatever hits me to provide that perfect vibe and bring a smile to our listeners' face.
